The museum is situated in a modest town-house which is representative of the mid-Georgian period in Bath. The astronomer and musician William Herschel lived there with his sister Caroline during the latter part of the 18th Century and it was from the garden with a telescope of his own construction that Herschel made various discoveries, including that of the planet Uranus. The museum is furnished in the style of the period and of particular note are Herschelís workshop and music room. Behind the house is an example of a semi-formal Georgian garden. ëStar Vaultí Astronomy attraction. Audio Tour available.
