Dealing with a member of the Bath Auctioneers and Estate Agents should give you peace of mind. All members agree to abide by The Society's Code of Conduct and subscribe to a national governing body such as R.I.C.S., N.A.E.A. or A.R.L.A. Members must have a minimum of 10 years property related experience. The Society was established in 1903 and is the oldest of its kind in the UK. Members cover a wide spectrum of specialist fields to include: residential sales and lettings, commercial property, surveys and valuations, fine art and chattels and tailored property finding service. With a detailed knowledge of Bath and the surrounding area, members will be pleased to provide advice on most subjects and the benefits of living in this World Heritage City.

Code of Practice

  1. Members have a minimum of 10 years local experience.

  2. Any firm applying for membership must now subscribe to either the R.I.C.S., A.R.L.A. or N.A.E.A. and comply with their rules of conduct.

  3. A no sale (completion) no fee policy is agreed by all members, unless specifically agreed with their client in writing prior to commencing marketing.

  4. It is every member's intention to provide an accurate market appraisal and supply substantive evidence to support his or her own view if requested.

  5. All properties will be advertised in the main local press at least once unless instructed otherwise.

  6. All offers will be forwarded to clients in writing, up to exchange of contracts.

  7. A For Sale or To Let board will only be erected if agreed by the client or landlord and in accordance with the local regulations.

  8. No keys will be released to prospective buyers/tenants unless specifically agreed otherwise.

  9. Accompanied viewings are available from all members.

  10. Any complaint will first be investigated by the members firm and a written reply forwarded within 14 days. Should this reply not meet satisfaction the complainant will be directed towards the relevant professional body.

  11. Any dispute between members agent will, if necessary, be referred to the committee, which will adjudicate and decide upon the resolution to which all members have agreed to comply.

  12. No member will pass on details of either seller/buyer, landlord or tenant without that parties permission.
